Enäjärvi

Hello, last weekend we were near the Enäjärvi's lake at the east of Kouvola with some of our finnish tutors. Here are some pictures.

Besides that we are still getting used to the town and still trying to find a shot cut to the town's center which one the legends bet it exists...

Today it was the birthday of a workmate and we ate a cake in the office and the enviorment in the office is very good, I particularly enjoy the lunch time, not just for the meal, its because at this time we can talk a lot about plenty of things, nature, politic, geography, finnish's people habits, finnish food, and I compare them with spain.

And talking now about my tasks in the workplace, I am working on a project we could offer to the customers. Its an application for a mobile device with a barcode's scanner and the application have to save the barcodes and print them in a bluetooth printer (those are the main features). I am having troubles trying to connect the bluetooth, but I am making progress bit by bit.

So that's all, regards from Alvaro.

First day at the workspace

Hello, today was my first day at the workspace (Alvaro) and Ruben and Cristian went to the high school to take some english lessons, they also learnt some finnish words due the translation from english to finnish.

I was in Hand Held System, its 3 km far from Eskolanmäki (the place where we live) and its just a straight way, easy to follow, I can go walking or a worker of the company can pick me up with the car and bring me there.

The company works with mobile devices like mobile phones, mobile printers and laptops, but they arent normal devices. They are supposed to be unbreakable, they are wrapped with hard plastic carcass and it can take a hit with the floor without being damaged. So today my task was trying to connect a mobile phone with a mobile printer and program an application in C# Windows Phone for the mobile phone which should print something in the mobile printer.

After that  I came back to home and at afternoon Ruben, Cristian and I went to the center to ask some doubts in the appartment's office we are renting but it was closed so we just had a coffe and we came back to home.

The weekend was very nice, despite the saturday snowed really hard (I think its called snowstorm) we went out and we enjoyed the nightlife with the finnish students who are going to Spain next month.

The snow and ice are melting slowly and I think in some weeks we will see some green grass.

Thats all I think, oh I forgot we met today some flatmates in the laundry, I think one was russian, they are nice people and they helped us with the laundry timetable (we must save a turn to use the laundry)

See you!

First day in Kouvola

Well; we arrive to Kouvola's apartment. Its so warm, but its normal because all the buildings are conditioned to the cold weather. We arrive to Helsinki at 15.30 and we take a taxi to the railway station; 25 euros. The driver of the taxi drives so fast and neglected, so we was so scared! But we arrive to the station so early. The train to Kouvola get out at 18.28, and it was so comfortable. In the way to Kouvola, we saw all the landscape, and it was impressive; a lot of trees was surrounded by the snow. We came from Málaga; so we was so astonished.

When we arrive here, Jari (our teacher here) picked up us in the bus station and he took us to the apartment. In the next day (today), Auli (another teacher) show us the high school, with Jani, an college that will go to Málaga. Jani drives us to the apartment, and tomorrow take us to the bowling to take a good time with other colleges. The day of tomorrow promises...

Kouvola, in a few days

In a few days, two of our students, Rubén and Crístian, from the IES Campanillas (Málaga, Spain) Vocational Educational and Training Technician in Microcomputer Systems and Networks will go to Kouvola to do the "On the Job Training” in the city of Kouvola in Finland.
Also, Álvaro, a student from IES Portada Alta VET in Software Development Application, will go with them.

One month ago, the two IES Campanillas teachers Juan Carlos Amaya and me(Sergio Banderas) went to Kouvola to visit the Kouvola Region Vocational College and some of the companies in which they will do their training period.  (See the photo above)

We were really impressed about the facilities of this huge VET School, and were really pleased about the hospitality of their teachers.

We are sure our students will have an unforgettable experience.

From this blog, they will write lots of things about their daily life in Finland.

We wish you all the best.
Sergio Banderas (IES Campanillas ,  EU Coordinator)
